This easy recipe transforms simple ingredients into juicy, flavor-packed shredded beef that works beautifully for sandwiches, dinner ideas, or hearty food ideas the whole family will love.

Ingredients

3 lbs beef chuck roast

2 cups barbecue sauce

1 cup beef broth

1 medium onion sliced

4 cloves garlic minced

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

1. Pat the beef dry and season it with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.

2. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear the beef on all sides until browned.

3. Place sliced onion and garlic in the slow cooker.

4. Add the seared beef on top of the onions.

5. In a bowl, mix barbecue sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.

6. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef.

7. Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours or high for 4–6 hours.

8. Remove the beef and shred it using two forks.

9. Return shredded beef to the slow cooker and mix with the sauce.

10. Let it cook for another 20–30 minutes before serving.

Notes

Searing the beef before slow cooking enhances the overall flavor significantly.

Letting the shredded beef sit in the sauce improves moisture and taste.

Adjust the sweetness or tanginess by tweaking sugar or vinegar to your liking.
