Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 tablespoon red food coloring gel
1 1/4 cups white chocolate chips
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
5. Mix in the red food coloring until the dough becomes evenly colored.
6. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
7. Fold in the white chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
8. Cover the dough and chill for at least 30 minutes.
9. Scoop portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them apart evenly.
10. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are set and the centers remain slightly soft.
11. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
12. Serve warm or store in an airtight container once completely cooled.
Notes
Chilling the dough helps create thicker cookies with a chewier texture.
Do not overbake the cookies because they continue setting as they cool.
Add extra chocolate chips on top before baking for a bakery-style appearance.
