Description

A rich, cheesy, and satisfying casserole that combines seasoned ground beef, sour cream, tortilla chips, and melted cheese in irresistible Tex-Mex layers. Perfect for a comforting family meal or feeding a crowd.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups crushed tortilla chips
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 12 fresh jalapeños, sliced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning with a splash of water and let simmer until thickened.
  4. In a bowl, combine sour cream and cream of chicken soup until smooth.
  5. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Spread half the crushed chips on the bottom.
  6. Add half the seasoned beef, half the sour cream mixture, and a layer of shredded cheese.
  7. Repeat the layers: chips, beef, sour cream mix, cheese.
  8. Top with remaining chips and cheese.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
  10. Let rest for 5 minutes. Top with diced tomatoes, jalapeños, and cilantro if using.
