Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)

red food coloring

green food coloring

1/2 cup powdered sugar


Instructions

1. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt

2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy

3. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and almond extract

4. Gradually combine dry ingredients into wet mixture

5. Divide dough and color red and green

6. Chill dough for 1–2 hours

7. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare baking sheets

8. Roll dough into balls and coat in powdered sugar

9. Place on baking sheet spaced apart

10. Bake for 10–12 minutes

11. Cool and serve

Notes

Chill the dough thoroughly for best crinkle effect

Use gel food coloring for stronger color without thinning dough
