Ingredients
For the Dough:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons softened butter
- ½ cup warm water
- 1 egg
For Frying:
- 2–3 cups vegetable oil
For Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- (Optional) Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- Add softened butter, egg, and warm water. Mix until dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Divide dough into 10–12 balls. Roll each into a very thin disc.
- Heat 2 inches of oil in a pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry each disc one at a time for about 30 seconds per side until golden.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- While warm, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture or dust with powdered sugar.
