Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 egg

For Frying:

  • 23 cups vegetable oil

For Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • (Optional) Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  2. Add softened butter, egg, and warm water. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  5. Divide dough into 10–12 balls. Roll each into a very thin disc.
  6. Heat 2 inches of oil in a pan to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry each disc one at a time for about 30 seconds per side until golden.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. While warm, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture or dust with powdered sugar.
