- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 6 oz high-quality dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Flaky sea salt for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Melt butter and chopped dark chocolate together until smooth; let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs for 2–3 minutes until pale and fluffy.
- Stir in vanilla and the melted chocolate mixture.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
- Chill dough for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop dough into balls (2 tbsp each), place on baking sheet, and press extra chocolate chunks on top.
