Ingredients
- 1/2 pound (225g) ground beef
- 4 slices thick-cut white bread
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 small tomato, thinly sliced (optional)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Seasoning:
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Optional Add-ins:
- Sliced jalapeños
- Pickles or caramelized onions
- Hot sauce
Instructions
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Drain excess fat and season the beef with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir and cook for another 1–2 minutes. Set aside.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered side, layer cheese, seasoned beef, tomato slices (if using), and more cheese. Top with the remaining bread slice, buttered side up.
- Reheat skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich in the pan. Press lightly with a spatula.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden and the cheese has melted.
- Let rest for 1–2 minutes, slice, and serve hot.
