Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
0.5 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
2 green onions, finely chopped
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
0.5 teaspoon black pepper
0.5 cup soy sauce
0.25 cup honey
0.25 cup water
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated ginger
2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
2. Form the mixture into 1 to 1.5-inch balls using your hands or a scoop. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
3. To cook, either bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–18 minutes or pan-fry in a skillet with oil over medium heat for 10–12 minutes, turning until browned and cooked through.
4. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, water, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer.
5. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens into a glossy glaze.
6. Toss the cooked meatballs in the sauce until evenly coated.
7. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
8. Serve hot over rice, noodles, or vegetables.
Notes
Don’t overmix the meat mixture—mix just until combined for tender meatballs.
You can use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef for a leaner option.
The teriyaki sauce can be pre-made and refrigerated up to one week in advance.
