Ingredients
- 1.5 to 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark, packed)
- 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (divided)
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
- Fresh parsley or chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Trim and pat the chicken pieces dry.
- In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, vinegar, and pepper.
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear half of the chicken for 3–4 minutes per side until golden. Remove and repeat with remaining oil and chicken.
- Return all chicken to the pan and pour sauce over.
- Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring until sauce thickens.
- Stir in butter if using.
- Garnish and serve.
