Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 8 oz rotini or elbow pasta
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess grease.
  4. Add chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Combine pasta with the meat sauce in the skillet or a mixing bowl.
  8. Spread mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  9. Top evenly with shredded cheddar cheese.
  10. Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
