Ingredients
4 large egg whites
1 cup granulated sugar
1 (3 oz) flavored Jello powder (any flavor)
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 pinch salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 225°F (110°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment or silicone mats.
2. In a clean, dry bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt on medium until soft peaks form.
3. Increase speed to high and gradually add sugar and Jello powder, 1 tablespoon at a time, until stiff, glossy peaks form (5–7 minutes).
4. Transfer to a piping bag fitted with a star tip; pipe 1–1.5 inch swirls onto prepared sheets.
5. Bake for 1 hour without opening the door. Turn off oven; cool inside with door slightly ajar for 30 minutes.
6. Remove and store in an airtight container once fully cool.
Notes
For deeper color, add a drop or two of matching gel food coloring.
Ensure sugar is fully dissolved—rub a little meringue between fingers; it should feel smooth.
Bake on low heat and cool in the oven to keep cookies dry and crisp.
