5 to 6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon coarse sugar (for topping)
Instructions
1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar until dissolved. Slowly whisk in the heavy cream and simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened. Stir in vanilla and a pinch of salt, then set aside to cool slightly.
