1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for filling)
1/8 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for topping)
1/3 cup brown sugar (for topping)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Peel and slice pears, then combine in a large bowl with cranberries.
3. Add 1/2 cup brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and salt. Toss to coat.
4. Pour the fruit mixture into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish.
5. In a separate bowl, combine oats, 1/2 cup flour, 1/3 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
6. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture becomes crumbly with small pea-sized bits.
7. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit mixture.
8. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until topping is golden and fruit is bubbling.
9. Let cool for at least 10–15 minutes before serving.
10. Serve warm with ice cream, whipped cream, or enjoy on its own.
Notes
Use firm pears like Bosc or Anjou for better texture during baking.
For added crunch, mix chopped nuts into the oat topping.
Let the crisp rest after baking so the filling can thicken properly.
