Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken breast, diced
  • 10 oz smoked sausage, sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 12 oz penne pasta (or similar)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil or butter in a large deep skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add diced chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook until lightly golden. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pot, add sliced sausage and sear until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Reduce heat to medium. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
  5. Pour in chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and honey, and bring to a light simmer.
  7. Add pasta, stir, and bring mixture to a gentle boil. Cover and simmer for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Return chicken and sausage to the pot. Stir and let everything simmer uncovered for 2–3 minutes.
  9. Turn off the heat and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted.
  10. Taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot and garnish with extra cheese or red pepper flakes if desired.
