Description
This Iced Brown Sugar Matcha Latte is a chilled, creamy drink that layers earthy matcha with deep caramel tones from homemade brown sugar syrup. Paired with your milk of choice and plenty of ice, this Instagram-worthy beverage is refreshing, energizing, and easy to make in just a few steps.
Ingredients
1 teaspoon matcha powder
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons water (for syrup)
1/2 cup cold water (for matcha)
3/4 cup milk of choice
Ice cubes (to fill glass)
Optional: pinch of matcha powder for garnish
Instructions
1. In a small saucepan, combine 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 2 tablespoons water. Heat over medium until the sugar dissolves and the syrup slightly thickens. Remove from heat and let cool.
2. Sift 1 teaspoon matcha powder into a bowl. Add 1/2 cup cold water and whisk using a bamboo whisk or frother until smooth and slightly frothy.
3. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes and pour the cooled brown sugar syrup over the ice.
4. Slowly pour 3/4 cup milk into the glass over the syrup.
5. Gently pour the matcha over the milk using the back of a spoon to create layers.
6. Optionally, garnish with a pinch of matcha powder. Stir before drinking, or enjoy the layered look.
