Ingredients
2 center-cut salmon fillets
2 tablespoons honey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)
1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season with salt and black pepper.
2. In a small saucepan, gently warm honey, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes for 3–5 minutes until fragrant. Do not boil.
3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon skin-side down and cook for 3–4 minutes until the skin is crisp.
4. Flip salmon and cook the other side for another 2–3 minutes. Lower the heat.
5. Spoon the warm hot honey glaze over the salmon and let it cook for 1–2 minutes until it thickens and glazes.
6. Remove from heat and finish with a squeeze of lemon juice if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
Let the salmon come to room temperature before cooking for even doneness.
Add the glaze in the last few minutes to prevent burning and ensure a perfect caramelized finish.
Use a cast iron or nonstick skillet to get the best sear on the salmon.
