Ingredients

1.5 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs

1/2 cup BBQ sauce

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)

Instructions

1. Trim any excess fat from the chicken thighs and pat dry with paper towels.

2. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and brown sugar. Toss well to coat.

3. Let the seasoned chicken rest for 15–20 minutes while you preheat your grill.

4. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F), and clean/oil the grates.

5. Grill the chicken thighs for 5–6 minutes per side until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.

6. In the last 2–3 minutes of cooking, brush BBQ sauce over both sides of the chicken.

7. Allow the sauce to caramelize slightly but not burn.

8. Remove the chicken from the grill, cover with foil, and let rest for 5 minutes.

9. Serve hot with extra BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

Always apply BBQ sauce near the end of grilling to avoid burning it.

Letting the chicken rest post-grill keeps it juicy and flavorful.

Use a meat thermometer to avoid under- or overcooking.
