Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

3 cups cooked white rice

1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom or cream of onion soup

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 medium onion, diced (optional)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.

3. Add diced onions (if using) and cook until soft. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

4. Reduce heat and mix in French onion soup and cream of mushroom soup. Let simmer for 2–3 minutes.

5. Stir in the cooked rice and combine thoroughly.

6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.

7. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.

8. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is melted and golden.

9. (Optional) Broil for 2–3 minutes to brown the cheese top.

10. Remove from oven, rest for 5–10 minutes, then garnish with chopped parsley and serve.

Notes

Always use cooked rice — raw rice won’t cook through and will make the casserole watery.

Draining the beef well is key to avoiding excess grease in the final dish.

For added depth, use Swiss or Gruyère cheese instead of mozzarella.
