Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed but cold
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: 1 tbsp heavy cream or milk
- Fresh strawberries, sliced into heart shapes
- Optional: mint leaves or powdered sugar for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat.
- Lightly flour a work surface and roll out puff pastry to even thickness.
- Use a heart-shaped cutter to cut out an even number of hearts. On half the hearts, cut out a smaller heart in the center to create a frame.
- Place full hearts on the baking sheet. Brush edges with egg wash.
- Lay the frame hearts on top of the base hearts. Press lightly to seal the edges.
- Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add milk if a lighter texture is desired.
- Spoon or pipe a small dollop of the mixture into the center of each heart.
- Brush pastry edges with egg wash. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden and puffed.
- Cool completely on a wire rack.
- Add fresh strawberry heart slices on top. Garnish if desired.
