Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup eggnog
1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
2 to 3 tablespoons eggnog (for glaze)
Pinch of nutmeg (for glaze)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
5. Add the flour mixture in three parts, alternating with the eggnog. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined.
6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
7. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
8. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and place on a wire rack to cool completely.
9. For the glaze: mix powdered sugar with 2 to 3 tablespoons of eggnog and a pinch of nutmeg. Stir until smooth.
10. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled loaf and let it set before slicing and serving.
Notes
Let the bread cool completely before glazing to prevent it from melting off.
Use full-fat eggnog for the richest flavor and best texture.
Add chopped nuts or white chocolate chips for an extra festive twist.
