A quick and flavorful stir fry made with ground beef, tender cabbage, and a savory garlic-soy sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights, this one-skillet meal is satisfying, budget-friendly, and incredibly easy to customize.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (85/15 preferred)
  • 1/2 head green cabbage, thinly sliced (about 4 cups)
  • 2 medium carrots, shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tbsp water (if using cornstarch)
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until fully browned.
  3. Drain excess fat if needed, then stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Add shredded carrots and sliced cabbage. Stir well and cook for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and water (plus cornstarch if using).
  6. Pour the sauce over the beef and cabbage, stirring to coat evenly.
  7. Let the mixture cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  8. Remove from heat, drizzle with sesame oil, and toss to combine.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
