Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh mushrooms (button or cremini), cleaned and dried
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
- Ranch dressing, garlic aioli, or preferred dipping sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Mushrooms – Wipe mushrooms clean with a damp paper towel and pat dry.
- Set Up Breading Station – In three separate bowls:
- Bowl 1: Mix flour, half the seasonings, and salt.
- Bowl 2: Whisk eggs and milk.
- Bowl 3: Combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and remaining seasonings.
- Coat the Mushrooms – Dredge each mushroom in flour, dip into egg wash, then coat with breadcrumbs. For extra crispiness, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating.
- Heat the Oil – Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Mushrooms – Fry in small batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on a cooling rack or paper towels.
- Serve & Enjoy – Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
