0.5 tsp smoked paprika
0.5 tsp salt
0.25 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 cup long grain white rice
2 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
0.5 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp unsalted butter
0.25 tsp garlic powder
0.25 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1 tbsp chopped fresh chives
Red pepper flakes
Grated parmesan
Lemon zest
Instructions
1. Rinse the rice under cold water until water runs clear.
2. In a medium saucepan, melt 1 tbsp butter over medium heat.
3. Add the rice and toast for 1 minute.
4. Pour in broth, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt.
5. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes.
6. Once cooked, remove from heat. Stir in cream, parsley, chives, salt, and pepper. Cover and set aside.
7. Pat shrimp dry. Toss with olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
8. Heat a skillet over medium-high. Sear shrimp 2 minutes per side.
9. Add garlic and butter to skillet. Sauté shrimp for 1–2 more minutes.
10. Finish with lemon juice. Remove from heat.
11. Assemble bowls with creamy rice on bottom, shrimp on top.
12. Garnish with parsley and optional lemon zest. Serve hot.
Notes
Let rice rest for 5 minutes after cooking before fluffing—it helps develop flavor and texture.
Use fresh herbs for the most vibrant flavor; dried alternatives don’t have the same impact.
Don’t skip the garlic butter toss—it’s what gives the shrimp that rich, savory finish.
