Ingredients
- 12 oz cheese tortellini
- 8 oz Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- ¾ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the sausage: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove sausage from casing, crumble, and cook until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook the tortellini: Boil tortellini according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- Sauté garlic and broccoli: In the same skillet, melt butter, then add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add broccoli and sauté for 3–4 minutes.
- Make the sauce: Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, bringing to a gentle simmer. Stir in parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Combine everything: Return cooked sausage and tortellini to the skillet. Toss to coat in the creamy sauce. Simmer for 2 minutes.
