Ingredients

  • 12 oz cheese tortellini
  • 8 oz Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ¾ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove sausage from casing, crumble, and cook until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the tortellini: Boil tortellini according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. Sauté garlic and broccoli: In the same skillet, melt butter, then add garlic and cook until fragrant. Add broccoli and sauté for 3–4 minutes.
  4. Make the sauce: Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream, bringing to a gentle simmer. Stir in parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Combine everything: Return cooked sausage and tortellini to the skillet. Toss to coat in the creamy sauce. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  6. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and extra parmesan before serving. Enjoy!
