Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cotton candy flavoring

Color & Decoration:

  • Pink gel food coloring
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • 2 tablespoons sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and cotton candy flavoring until fully combined.
  5. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Divide and Color the Dough: Split the dough into two equal portions. Add pink food coloring to one half and blue food coloring to the other, mixing until evenly colored.
  7. Create Swirls: Take small portions of pink and blue dough, place them together, and gently roll into balls, slightly twisting to create a swirl effect.
  8. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart, and lightly press down.
  9. Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft.
  10. Decorate & Cool: While warm, sprinkle with edible glitter or sprinkles. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
