Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

8 oz full-fat cream cheese softened

1/2 cup unsalted butter softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup granulated sugar for coating

1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon for coating

Instructions

1. In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for coating and set aside.

2. Beat softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth and creamy.

3. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

4. Mix in egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.

5. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.

6. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.

7. Cover and refrigerate dough for 30–60 minutes.

8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

9. Roll dough into equal balls and coat generously in cinnamon sugar.

10. Place on baking sheet spaced apart and bake 10–13 minutes until edges are golden and centers are just set.

11. Cool 5 minutes on baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Do not skip chilling the dough as it prevents excessive spreading.

Slightly underbake for a soft cheesecake-style center.

Add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar for extra warmth.
