Festive red and green sprinkles bring cheer to your cookie trays, making this an ideal pick for cookie swaps, holiday gifting, or quick Christmas dessert ideas. This is a quick dessert recipe you can whip up with pantry staples, and it never fails to deliver that wow factor. It’s one of those easy recipes that feels special and always disappears fast!

Ingredients

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 large egg

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix

1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

3 tbsp red and green sprinkles

Instructions

1. Let the cream cheese and butter soften to room temperature. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and cream cheese until smooth and fluffy.

3. Add in the egg and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined and glossy.

4. Slowly incorporate the yellow cake mix into the mixture. Stir just until combined.

5. Cover the dough and chill for at least 30 minutes for easier handling.

6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls.

7. Roll each dough ball in powdered sugar and press sprinkles on top.

8. Arrange the dough balls on the baking sheet with 2 inches of space between.

9. Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are set and the centers look soft.

10. Let cookies cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chilling the dough is key — it keeps the cookies thick and prevents spreading.

Press the sprinkles on gently so they stick during baking.

Don’t overbake! Slightly soft centers give you that gooey magic.
