It’s a go-to for those looking for easy holiday snacks, festive treats, or simply a crowd-pleasing buttery cookie.

Ingredients

1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup powdered sugar, for rolling

1/4 cup red, green, and white sprinkles

Optional: pinch of salt

Optional: extra powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, beat softened butter and cream cheese until smooth.

3. Add egg and vanilla extract; mix until creamy.

4. Gradually add cake mix and stir until combined. Dough will be thick.

5. Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and roll in powdered sugar.

6. Press sprinkles on top of each cookie ball.

7. Place on baking sheet, spaced 2 inches apart.

8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers are slightly soft.

9. Cool on the baking sheet for 2–3 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

10. Dust with more powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

Notes

Use room temperature butter and cream cheese for a smooth dough and better mixing.

For a thicker powdered sugar coat, roll dough balls twice before baking.

These cookies freeze well and can be made ahead for gift giving or parties.
