Ingredients
- 12 oz chicken sausage, sliced into rounds
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups broccoli florets
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add sliced chicken sausage and sear until browned on both sides, about 6–8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Add orzo and toast for 2 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
- Let orzo cook uncovered for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add broccoli on top, cover, and steam for 3–4 minutes.
- Return sausage to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Cook together for another 2 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Season with salt and pepper. Top with Parmesan if desired.
