Ingredients

  • 1 deep-dish pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2025 slices of pepperoni
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: fresh parsley or basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). If using store-bought crust, allow it to come to room temperature.
  2. Press the pie crust into a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate. Prick the bottom with a fork and pre-bake for 7 minutes.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook diced onion until translucent. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and pizza sauce. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat.
  5. Spoon the meat mixture into the pre-baked crust.
  6. Top with half the mozzarella, then layer on pepperoni slices.
  7. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese and Italian herbs on top. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly and crust is golden.
  9. Let pie rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
