Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning
0.5 cup water
1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes with green chilies
1 cup sour cream
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup salsa
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 bag (9.75 oz) Nacho Cheese Doritos
Optional: chopped tomatoes, cilantro, sliced jalapeños, green onions
Instructions
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and break it apart with a spatula. Drain excess grease.
2. Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until the beef is coated.
3. Add the diced tomatoes with green chilies (undrained) to the beef and stir well. Simmer another 2 minutes.
4. In a separate bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and salsa. Stir until smooth.
5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
6. Gently crush Doritos by hand into bite-sized pieces.
7. Spread a layer of crushed Doritos on the bottom of the dish.
8. Add half the beef mixture, then half of the creamy filling, and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
9. Repeat the layers: Doritos, beef, creamy mix, and remaining cheese.
10. Top with extra Doritos if desired.
11. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
12. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
13. Top with fresh garnishes and serve hot.
Notes
For best texture, add the final layer of Doritos just before baking.
