Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the brownie batter: In a bowl, mix melted butter and sugar until combined. Add eggs and vanilla, whisking until smooth. Stir in cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  3. Prepare the banana bread batter: In a separate bowl, mash the bananas, then mix in sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Layer the batters: Spread half of the brownie batter into the baking pan. Pour the banana bread batter on top, then add the remaining brownie batter in spoonfuls. Swirl gently with a knife for a marbled effect.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Prepare the glaze: Mix powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Once brownies have cooled, drizzle glaze on top.
  7. Cool completely before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
